This is the title track of the album, and the song recounts the highs and lows of loving a crab, a squid, and an octopus, “a woman I’ve learned to trust.” We filmed this video on the Pensacola Pier on an early October morning in 2024. Pedro did a great job shooting one continuous take, capturing the scene of everyone beginning a day of fishing. Special thanks to Phil Kurtz for his amazing saxophone solos.
Lyrics
I’ve been walking this beach for years
carrying around this bucket of tears
collecting shells, my heart-shaped souvenirs
I’ve been walking around with these bones
the ocean sings ’cause she’s polishing stones and
blowing the reeds of her saxophone
I fell in love with a crab
she showed me how to use my words when I’m mad
but she pinched me once for dressing up in plaid
I swam around with a squid
she helped me get in touch with my id
but we went our own ways, ’cause we were only kids
We found a place to play down by the waterside
we swam around all day down by the waterside
we joined in the parade down by the waterside
I tangled with an octopus
when she reached out her tentacles, I felt her touch
and she taught me to tango, and to double Dutch
she’s a woman I’ve learned to trust
we were juggling stars when I got that crush
now we’re riding the waves to the age of Aquarius
We found a place to play down by the waterside
we swam around all day down by the waterside
we joined in the parade down by the waterside
we found a place to stay down by the waterside
where palm trees gently sway down by the waterside
the ocean serenades down by the waterside
her kisses on our face down by the waterside
she carries us away down by the waterside
by the waterside, by the waterside
by the waterside, by the waterside
