"Cenizas de Amor" (Ashes of Love) tells the story of two young lovers who fall head over heels for each other during a study abroad in Spain only to realize, once they returned home, that they had "burned their ship to that distant shore" and were left with only the "ashes of love." "Memories in a jar, dust from shooting stars, once upon a love affair in Spain." Special thanks to my son Joel and his girlfriend Clara for starring in this video we shot at Fort Pickens, Pensacola, Florida.
Lyrics
Today we walk through palaces of Spring
We talk about the things that summer brings
While the grass is tall we will not see the fall
Hand in hand our gypsy voices sing
The more we love the deeper is our pain
Without the walls we sometimes feel the rain
Memories in a jar, dust from shooting stars
Once upon a love affair in Spain
O mi amor recuerdas (oh my love do you remember)
Ese pequeño buzón (that little mailbox)
El hueco en la piedra (the hole in the stone)
Todavía espera (still awaits)
Tu y yo, tu y yo (you and me)
The years go by like water past a stone
sometimes the memories chill us to the bone
just when it seems
that the grass is green
winter comes and covers it with snow
O mi amor recuerdas (oh my love do you remember)
Ese pequeño buzón (that little mailbox)
El hueco en la piedra (the hole in the stone)
Todavía espera (still awaits)
Tu y yo, tu y yo (you and me)
Empty bottle by the door
your camisole upon the floor
we burned our ship
to the distant shore

que maravilla amar en Sevilla (how wonderful to love in Seville!)
cada mañana en el puente de triana (every morning on the Triana bridge)
por la ventana vi a las gitanas (I saw gypsies out the window)
La torre de oro, Pages del Coro (the golden tower, Pages del Coro street)
La feria de Abril, el Guadalquivir (The April fair, the Guadalquivir River)
